Description

These limited edition prints are handmade by artists at Singal Return. Signal Return is a non-profit based in East Village Detroit, dedicated to preserving and teaching traditional letterpress printing using vintage presses and an extensive collection of wood and metal type. These unique prints feature the phrase "What Up Doe" a common and distinctly Detroit greeting.

What Up Doe is also the name of Tiff Massey's incredible commissioned sculpture for the exhibition 7 Mile + Livernois. Her most ambitious museum installation to date, 7 Mile + Livernois features new sculptures commissioned by the DIA in conversation with works by several other artists from the museum’s collection. Massey’s work reimagines art’s role in the community and offers a vibrant, inclusive view of Detroit. Her art invites us all to celebrate our collective identity, ancestral flyness, and beauty.

This print was created using hand-set wood and metal type on a Vandercook SP-25 Letterpress and have a beautiful hand-torn deckled edge.
