Description

Custom designed for the Detroit Institute of Arts!

Complete the jigsaw puzzle of 108 wood pieces and see a beautiful picture appear of the oil painting Vase with Carnations by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), a favorite in the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Van Gogh painted Vase with Carnations in 1886 while he was in Paris. Van Gogh painted over 30 floral still-lifes during his stay in Paris between 1886 and 1888, and this lovely arrangement created in 1886 speaks to the importance of the genre for him. Under the influence of impressionists, Van Gogh experimented with his palette and brushwork, progressively introducing brilliant tones to the somber palette of his Dutch period. Van Gogh described his still-lifes as "a series of color studies" and this bouquet of blooming carnations vibrates with his newly found fascination with color.

Included with the jigsaw is an image of the completed puzzle to assist with assembly.

Each wooden piece measures about 0.8" x 1.3".

Comes packaged in a colorful can which measures 5.3" H x 3.3" D.
