After episodes of self-mutilation and hospitalization, Vincent Van Gogh voluntarily entered an asylum. Within his first week there, he began painting, observing each flower closely and rendering them as distinct, individual forms. Through careful study, he created a range of curved silhouettes shaped by wavy, twisting, and curling lines.
