Description

Kazuyuki Ohtsu (Japanese, b. 1935) was noted for his harmonious artworks which frequently reflected the changing seasons. He began studying traditional woodblock printmaking in Tokyo at the age of eighteen. Breaking with the traditional division of labor practiced by Hokusai, Hiroshige, and virtually every other Japanese printmaker who preceded them, the sosaku hanga (creative print) artists handled every step of print production: they painted the original pictures, carved the woodblocks, and printed the images.

This holiday boxed set features his tranquil woodblock print Moonlight in Winter at Toono which depicts a chilly snowy scene with a lonely white horse peering out from the stables under a moonlit sky.

Inside message: Season's Greetings
