Stylizing such an intricate flower as an iris proved tricky. Nawal Motawi mingled visual cues from multiple Arts & Crafts-period renderings to arrive at this design. Like the flower, our iris is more declarative than demure.
For over 20 years, the artisans at Motawi Tileworks have hand-crafted art tile in their Ann Arbor, Michigan, studio. These distinctive tiles are known for their rich glazes and and uniquely American designs, inspired by nature, art and architecture.
On the back you will find the Motawi Tileworks stamp and the signature of the tilemaker.
Actual tile size: 3-13/16" x 7-13/16".
Tiles are 5/8" thick and have a notch at the back for hanging.
