Description

Norval Morrisseau (1932-2007), referred to as "Copper Thunderbird," is considered the grandfather of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada. He is heralded as "the key figure at the center of an Indigenous art movement in Canada" by the National Chief of Assembly of First Nations and is the only Native Artist to have a solo exhibition by the National Gallery of Canada.

Known as the "Picasso of the North", Morrisseau created works depicting the legends of his people, the cultural and political tensions between native Canadian and European traditions, his existential struggles, and deep spirituality and mysticism.

This coaster features the center panel of one of his iconic works, bringing his powerful vision and storytelling into your home in a functional, artful way. The left and right images (completing the triptych) are also depicted in coaster form.

Dimensions: 3.75 in. x 3.75 in.
