Jan Brueghel the Elder was a Flemish painter and draughtsman known for working in many different styles. He created history paintings, detailed flower still lifes, mythological and allegorical scenes, landscapes and seascapes, hunting scenes, village life, battles, and dramatic depictions of hell and the underworld. In the early 17th century, he became an important innovator, introducing new types of paintings such as flower garland works, paradise landscapes, and gallery paintings.
This 1,000 piece painting of Flowers in a Wooden Vessel is a wonderful way to celebrate his artistry.
