We Can Do It / Rosie the Riveter Socks
Feel empowered in these socks that pay tribute to 'Rosie The Riveter,' the iconic figure from the poster by the Pittsburgh artist J. Howard Miller depicting a young woman, clad in a work shirt and polka-dot bandanna.
Flexing her arm, she declares, “We Can Do It!” The poster's original purpose was to deter absenteeism and strikes among employees during wartime in the Westinghouse factory where it was displayed. It was much later, during the 1980s, that the image resurfaced and became attached to the feminist movement, making Rosie the face of Girl Power.
