The sleep mask was inspired by Vincent van Gogh's masterpiece, The Starry Night, 1889. It was the view from his asylum room just before sunrise. Van Gogh had committed himself to the asylum, where many of his most famous works were painted, after suffering a mental breakdown. Shortly thereafter he tragically ended his own life, but his memory and artwork will remain in perpetuity.
