These earrings are based on Pre-Columbian Sun jewelry that were made in Colombia, ca. 700-1500 AD, and are in the collections of the Walters Art Gallery.
In many Pre-Columbian cultures, nose jewelry was a common form of personal adornment. Our jewelry is adapted from a Pre-Columbian gold nose ring that was a representation of the Sun.
