For over 20 years, the artisans at Motawi Tileworks have hand-crafted art tile in their Ann Arbor, Michigan, studio. These distinctive tiles are known for their rich glazes and uniquely American designs, inspired by nature, art and architecture. Unlike mass-produced tile, the unique design, beautiful craftsmanship, and affordability of Motawi tile allows people to own and enjoy real art, which won’t go out of style and will last for generations.
Polychrome tiles have many colors separated by a tiny ridge of clay and are made by pooling the glazes with bulb syringes into the areas delineated by the tiny ridges of clay.
Mid-century modern meets Motawi mastery in this tile based on the work of celebrated wildlife artist Charley Harper (1922-2007), a self-described "minimal realist."
This cardinal tile is the perfect gift for bird-watchers or fans of mid-century modern!
On the back you will find the Motawi Tileworks stamp, the signature of the tilemaker and a notch for hanging.
