About Michael Graves
Born in Indianapolis, Michael Graves was an instructor of architecture at Princeton since 1962. His architectural works include the Portland Building and the Humana Building, the extension of the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Newark Museum. Michael Graves and associates along with the SmithGroup were the architects behind the 2007 renovation and expansion of the Detroit Institute of Arts. Several designs by Graves, including an amazing coffee and tea service commissioned by Alessi, are part of the DIA's collection.
