This Coonley Playhouse doormat was inspired by the iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Coonley Playhouse doormat is based on a panel in the Avery Coonley Playhouse, Riverside, IL (c.1912). Unlike Wright's early designs with their nature derivations, the Playhouse windows are purely geometric in composition and feature bright, mostly primary colors. This design may have been inspired by a parade, the colored glass simulates a haphazard, yet controlled, arrangement of balloons, confetti and flags. The windows were the focal point of the playhouse, actually a kindergarten operated by Mrs. Coonley.
This doormat is constructed from colored coir fiber pressed into a natural rubber base.
