About the Artist: Valerie L. Myers studied Industrial Design at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. Inspired by a large collection of unopened coffee table books, she designed Eclipse as a way to savor more pleasure from the pages of art books. Aspiring to uplift and enhance people's lives with excellent design and positively impact the metro Detroit community, a portion of profits from Eclipse supports the education and employment of metro Detroit's youth in the Industrial Arts.
Subtle luminosity of the “clear” moon against the night sky is reminiscent of a lunar eclipse. Reflected light of the clear dot is also analogous to twinkling stars at midnight or “Bailey’s beads” (which are actually part of a solar eclipse). "...gather the lovely stars, forget-me-nots of the angels."
