Mexican artist Diego Rivera considered the Detroit Industry murals the best work of his career. The twenty-seven panels covering four walls at the Detroit Institute of Arts depict the culture of manufacturing, from its roots in agriculture and natural resources to the processing of materials and assembly of finished products. This monumental work of genius has come to symbolize the spirit of hardworking laborers as well as the advances of science. The complete murals are shown on the title page of this calendar, while each month features a close-up detail.
