Description

Custom designed for the Detroit Institute of Arts!

Men's bill fold wallet featuring two stash pockets are hidden behind six credit card pockets. Stash pockets fit more credit cards, business cards, receipts, or other miscellaneous items. Credit card pockets are 3.5” wide, able to fit larger ID cards or season ticket or parking passes and access cards. A divided bill fold allows organization of business and personal or separate large bills from smaller bills for tipping, etc.

This wallet is constructed from the finest quality full grain leather. An enriched leather provides for a smooth, tight and supple hand. The softness of the leather increases over time.

Features the entire bottom panel from Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry north wall on the wallet's exterior while the wallet's interior has a detail from the mural peeking from behind steely grey leather pockets. The finest quality reproduction now available on leather goods along with the smoothest canvas ensures a crisp and lasting image.

Diego Rivera was commissioned by the Detroit Institute of Arts, with funds from Edsel Ford (the son of automaker Henry Ford), to paint the walls of the institute's garden court. Rivera studied workers at the Ford plant in nearby Dearborn to produce the murals, twenty-seven panels that Rivera completed in eleven months, April 1932—March 1933. The massive work is considered the finest example of the Mexican muralist's work in the United States and Rivera himself thought the Detroit murals to be his most successful work.

On April 23, 2014, the Detroit Industry Murals were given National Historic Landmark Status.
