Although Edgar Degas (1834-1917) is mainly known as a painter, sculpting was almost as important in his life. He began seriously to sculpt when he was in his early forties and, although he probably had no thought of exhibiting most of his sculptures, his wax models increasingly became a major part of his work. The only sculpture exhibited by Degas in his lifetime, the wax version of the Little Dancer caused a furor when first exhibited in 1881 because of its stark realism as Degas was clearly using the scuplture to question accepted ideas of art.

This reproduction statue of Degas' iconic ballerina features a bronze-colored finish with a green bodice and ivory-colored skirt to replicate the original fabric found on the Little Dancer of Fourteen Years statue.

Made of cast stone with bronze-colored finish. Statue rests on a black platform.

The perfect addition to an office or study. It is also a wonderful gift for any student of dance.

Dimensions: 12 x 4 x 4 inches
