This free-standing book end is in the style of Corinthian columns crowned by a pediment. For the ancient Greeks, columns served to support a temple's façade. The Corinthian column, developed in the 5th century BC, was not widely used until Roman times and displayed a profusion of carved acanthus leaves.
Whether you choose one bookend, or two, your books will be stay upright and neatly displayed. Use one on a bookshelf or a pair on a table or credenza.
