Born on a farm in West Virginia, American Modernist Illustrator Charley Harper studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where he later made his home. For more than sixty years--without computers--Mr. Harper captured colors, shapes, and movements. He uniquely simplified intricate and complex lines, shapes and movement through his painted art. He painted nature's gifts with precision and called it "minimal realism."
With extreme attention to detail, this hand-felted White-breasted Nuthatch figure elegantly captures and renders the energy and color of Mr. Harper's birds in a three-dimensional form.
Based on the Charley Harper 1954 "Ford Times" White-breasted Nuthatch silkscreen print.
