Art of Rebellion
Art of Rebellion, an exhibition currently on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts, explores powerful artworks by African American artists who formed collectives during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The merchandise here includes the exhibition catalog as well as a small selection of books that explore the social and political themes connected to the works of art in the exhibit, including the Civil Rights Movement, black identity, racial justice, plus surveys on the city of Detroit including its past, present, and possibilities for the future.
The exhibition runs Sunday, July 23 through Sunday, October 22, 2017. Find out more at dia.org
