These lovingly handcrafted African-inspired dolls are created by fiber artist Michele Sapp from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Made from recycled bottles, yarn, wire, fiberfill, and fabric, garments are hand-stitched and wrapped and accented with beads, shells, baskets, feathers and other trims.
Sapp is a self-taught artist whose dolls are a tribute to her grandmother, Annie, an independent and creative woman who saw beauty in everyday life. The dolls in her collection do not represent any particular African nation, but rather honor the spirit of her cultural heritage and are meant to honor the strength of all women.
Measures approximately 15" H, with stand.
