This Skyscraper Candlestick #XI can hold a single 3/8 inch diameter candle. The hole for the candle is cleverly disguised as a chimney pot on top of the center skyscraper. At the top of the tallest building, you will find one of the many lovely details: the impression of a white snowdrop flower!
Hand-rolled from terracotta clay and then carved, fired, and finished with Prismacolor colored pencil and a matte varnish, these one of a kind candlesticks also include glaze, collage, and paint.
The artist, Linda Buck, of Royal Oak, Michigan, uses these mixed-media techniques that enables her to combine her love of drawing with carving and hand building clay. While inspiration may be drawn from places Linda has visited, her creations are imaginary, with a whimsical and dreamlike quality.
Linda Buck has a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Michigan and an MA in Drawing from Wayne State University.
Each piece contains the artist's signature on the bottom.
One of a kind.
